    Description

    WhyHunger is seeking a passionate, creative, and effective Individual Giving Manager to join our development team. The Individual Giving Manager will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to engage individual donors, cultivate relationships, and drive revenue growth to support WhyHunger's mission and programs.

    The right candidate will thrive as a member of a small, collaborative team and will have demonstrable experience stewarding donors of all levels, developing impactful materials and communications, executing successful fundraising campaigns, and prospecting and closing major gifts. The Individual Giving Manager will have one direct report and will be supervised by the Senior Director of Development.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Donor Cultivation and Stewardship

    • Build and maintain relationships with individual donors through personalized communication, stewardship, and cultivation activities.
    • Develop and execute strategies to engage donors at various giving levels and strengthen their connection to WhyHunger's mission and programs.

    Annual Fundraising Campaigns

    • Partner with communications and program teams to plan and execute annual fundraising campaigns aimed at acquiring, renewing, and upgrading individual donors.
    • Partner with staff and consultants to develop compelling fundraising appeals, solicitations, and other collateral materials to inspire giving and communicate impact.

    Major Gifts and Planned Giving

    • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects in collaboration with the development team, senior leadership, and Board of Directors.
    • Work closely with donors interested in planned giving opportunities to secure bequests, trusts, and other planned giving vehicles.

    Donor Communications and Engagement

    • Manage donor communications channels and oversee development of materials that engage and steward individual donors effectively, including emails, direct mail, impact reports, and acknowledgments.
    • Contribute to WhyHungers social media strategies in ways that support donor engagement.
    • Partner with programs to plan and execute creative donor education opportunities like programmatic events, site visits, roundtables, and more.
    • Collaborate with communications to ensure consistent use of organizational messaging, brand guidelines and alignment with narrative strategies in all donor communications.

    Data Management, Research and Analysis

    • Ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date donor records in EveryAction, WhyHungers CRM database.
    • Analyze donor data and fundraising metrics to assess performance, identify trends and share key learnings to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Engage in regular research and professional development to hone skills and learn new trends and technologies for donor cultivation and engagement.

    Management and Collaboration

    • Supervise the Development Assistant.
    • Participate in cross-departmental teams to support WhyHunger's overall fundraising goals, including events, concerts, the annual gala, and Hungerthon.
    • Collaborate with programs and communications to ensure alignment and integration of fundraising efforts with organizational needs and priorities.
    • Work with the finance team to develop accurate revenue projections, track fundraising results, and ensure progress toward organizational budget goals.

    Qualifications & Core Competencies

    The right candidate for this position is a gifted communicator and strong relationship builder who is passionate about engaging donors to help fuel food justice and transformative social change. Strong candidates will have:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit fundraising, individual giving, and donor relations.
    • Track record of successfully executing individual giving campaigns and soliciting and closing major gifts. Experience securing planned gifts is a plus.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate WhyHunger's mission and impact compellingly.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, staff, Board members, and volunteers.
    • A passion for WhyHungers mission to end hunger and advance the human right to nutritious food.
    • Demonstrated commitment to racial, social, economic and/or environmental justice and a desire to be part of an anti-racist organizational culture.
    • Proficiency in CRM database management and donor analytics tools.
    • Highly organized with strong project management skills and a track record of meeting deadlines.
    • Experience managing outside consultants and vendors, including graphic designers, printers and mail houses, etc.
    • Ability to work evening events and travel nationally and internationally, as needed.

    Salary & Benefits

    WhyHunger is committed to internal pay equity and livable wages. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000. This employee will be eligible for WhyHungers generous benefits package, which includes medical insurance coverage for the employee and family, 30 days of paid vacation plus office closure for a week in the summer and a week at the end of the year, 5-hour Fridays, 403(b) retirement plan with discretionary employer contribution, and more.
