    The Johns Hopkins Hospital, a 1,051 bed academic medical center, and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine are the major components of the Johns Hopkins Health System, a vertically integrated, multi-institutional system for medical services delivery. It was one of the first non-profit, academically based healthcare systems of its kind in the country. Located in the city of Baltimore, Maryland, The Johns Hopkins Hospital is consistently ranked at the top of America's Best Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report. The Department of Pharmacy, consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine, places a priority on teaching, research and patient care. At Johns Hopkins Hospital, the department is responsible for providing acute care pharmacy services for a diverse population of medical and surgical patients, with additional services provided within the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center and affiliated clinics. Within the department, there are 45 acute care and primary care clinical pharmacy specialists as well as 31 general and specialized pharmacy residents.

    Reports to the Division Director of Pharmacy for the assigned area. Responsible for working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary health care team to promote wellness, maintain current health, and/or intervene in acute or chronic illness. Promotes the safe and effective use of medications by consulting with other health care professionals concerning problems and instructs patients and families on their medications. Provides education to patients, students, residents, and pharmacists.

    Minimum Requirements:
    • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm. D. or BS degree. Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is desired
    • Two years of practice experience in area of specialty practice is preferred or completion of a specialty pharmacy residency in the area of practice
    • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required
    • Hospital and departmental education requirements completed within 90 days of hire. ACLS and/or PALS certification is desired
    • Previous clinical health-system experience is desired
