Position Summary

  • The Chief Airborne Sensor Operator (CASO) is responsible for establishing policies and procedures for the conduct of all MSA contracts. The position is responsible for the training, standardization, and professional standards of forward deployed Airborne Sensor Operators operating globally. The CASO ensures compliance with assignments to support the operation, maintenance, and effective integration of equipment and facilities to include the operation of all tactical radio/communication equipment, mission computer consoles, recording equipment, and any mission equipment incorporated on the aircraft.

    Essential Functions and Competency Statements
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the function and performance of integrated sensor systems, radios, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Manages MSA-ISR sensor operator personnel and payload during all phases of ground and flight operations.
  • Responsible for the Airborne Sensor Operation Training program, including:
  • Create initial and refresher training curriculum for Airborne Sensor Operators.
  • Establish and manage a cadre of Standardization Airborne Sensor Operators who can train and perform check rides.
  • Develop evaluation standards for Airborne Sensor Operators and training team.
  • Develop computer based/simulator trainer and curriculum for EO/IR optical sensors, LiDAR, communication suites, system troubleshooting and basic flight crew functions.
  • Maintain standardized Airborne Sensor Operator training records.
  • Report training status to program management.
  • Provide guidance and suggestions on technical matters for the aircraft based on the Metrea Special Aerospace (MSA) Aircrew Training Manual, specific Site and customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP).
  • Serve as point of contact between Airborne Sensor Operators and Aircrew, Flight Operations, Maintenance and Engineering, Site Management, and Program Management.
  • Help establish, maintain, and implement Standard Operating Procedures that can be used by all locations and responsible for disseminating SOP change reports.
  • Ensure compliance with service/program guidance, company policy and procedures (FGOP), and Federal Aviation Administration regulations when applicable.
  • Responsible for interfacing with Metrea Engineering to establish procedures for submitting trouble tickets, tracking sensor status reports, performing sensor inventories, and developing check lists and updates SOPs that aligns with configuration changes.
  • Identify emerging technologies and trends in sensor technology to inform longterm planning and investment decisions.
  • Establish performance metrics and standards for sensor operations and evaluate performance against these benchmarks. Provide feedback and coaching to personnel to enhance their performance and professional development.
  • Establish quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of sensor data and analysis.
  • Travel to OCONUS locations for site audits and limited deployment fills.

Supervisory Responsibility
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment

This position provides for a hybrid solution where remote work is authorized with periodic onsite work at the Tampa, FL headquarters facility occurring as required.

Travel to deployed work locations required.

During deployment, employees will be living under field conditions and must be able to work with little supervision in austere or arduous environments.

Work environment varies based on contract.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some physical abilities will be required.


Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shift may
