- Providing analysis, advice and technical assistance to bureau staff.
- Answering questions from insurance companies, producers, legislators and the public.
- Conducting investigations related to licensing and other issues.
- Assisting in complaint investigations to ensure statutes and regulations are followed.
- Working with the Bureau's market conduct examiners, and contract examiners to ensure form compliance with statutes and regulations.
- Analyzing and monitoring legislation and drafting testimony and letters on behalf of the Superintendent.
- Developing regulations and completing rulemaking procedures

The Maine Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, Bureau of Insurance, seeks a Staff Attorney for its Licensing unit.
This is professional services work providing analysis, advice and assistance to Bureau staff, with an emphasis on legal issues involved in the licensing area.
This position interacts on a daily basis with various staff of the Bureau, including licensing staff, complaint investigators and market conduct staff.
Other responsibilities include outreach and contact with members of the insurance community on a variety of compliance-related topics. Work is performed under limited supervision. The position reports to the Deputy Superintendent.Primary responsibilities include:
Minimum qualifications:
A Law degree from an accredited law school and five (5) years experience in legal practice including at least three (3) years in a field directly related to area of assignment.
