What you'll do:


  • Attend Design Handoff meetings with Designers and Technical Designers to determine prototype needs and ensure that all materials are put in place for development and ultimately tech packs are complete with all information needed for sample development
  • Conduct predictive costing exercises to ensure products are designed to cost and help to find alternative material options, as necessary to meet targets
  • Work with the Snr Director of PD and production to determine preallocation
  • Reserve and track Proto/SMS yardage, handlooms, knit downs, lab dips, and strikeoffs and communicate the comments to suppliers
  • Executes the requesting and tracking of product samples including prototypes, and SMS
  • Work with design and suppliers to create mockups and prototypes to explore, resolve, or prove new concepts, construction techniques and product features
  • Responsible for wear test requests, sample distribution and collating feedback.
  • Manages the product costing lifecycle, providing solutions throughout the development process ensuring that IMU targets are achieved or exceeded
  • Develop styles within timelines and guidelines set out by GTM calendar and product briefs
  • Monitor key calendar deadlines to ensure timeliness of deliverables are met and troubleshoot all problems/issues that arise
  • Daily correspondence with suppliers. Drive communication of all style development information to the appropriate supplier
  • Attend weekly garment fittings with input on production issues/ costing and communicate any changes as needed to suppliers and cross functional teams
  • Problemsolve challenges in development in partnership with crossfunctional teams, facilitating conversations to ensure final outcomes are met
  • Work closely with suppliers to conduct indevelopment testing. Escalate any risks during the design and development phases and providing alternatives to help reduce concerns
  • Resolve quality concerns that arise during development phase in both fabric and garment, working with counterparts to ensure bulk product is up to Rhone's quality standards
  • Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and technology
  • Research and suggest new product development and refinements for existing products
  • Seek out and communicate current apparel trends, understand the market and how it pertains to Rhone consumers; continuous awareness of consumer product information.
  • Manage the materials library and new material development process
  • Track and manage development liabilities and surcharges
  • Partner closely with the production manager to ensure a smooth transition from development to production.
  • Manage and develop PD Associate
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities as required
  • Domestic and international travel as required
- with direct responsibility for factory relationships


What you'll bring:


  • Bachelor's or advanced degree preferred 46 years of product development experience with prior international travel experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of fabrics and trims associated with the development process
  • Strong understanding of costing and cost negotiation, trade regulations, product integrity, testing protocol, production cycle timeline, fabric and garment construction
  • Proficient in MS Excel and familiarity with PLM systems, preferably Centric
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
  • Strong problemsolving skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical mindset
  • Positive, optimistic and openminded approach
