    JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

    Position:Customer Service Associate - Trainee - Time Limited - No Benefits

    Hourly Wage: $15.71 per hour

    Will be eligible for job change to Customer Service Associate after completing required training and 300 hours of employment with an hourly wage of $16.86 per hour.

    Job Summary

    Provides services to members of the general public, assisting with marriage licenses, passport applications, applications for tax abatement, property valuation appeals, as well as performing other statutory obligations of the Clerk/Auditors office.

    Essential Functions

    • Perform marriage licensing services; assist and instruct the public in the application process for marriage licenses; verify eligibility to apply according to established statutes and ordinances; review applications for completeness and accuracy; issue licenses and maintain records on the same; provide assistance and education to marriage officiants to ensure proper completion of marriage documents.
    • Officiate the performance of civil marriages as a Deputy County Clerk.
    • Perform passport services; provide technical assistance to the public seeking out-of-country travel authorization; assist in the completion and submission of passport applications; verify validity and accuracy of applicants personal documentation; take photos; administer oaths; mail passport applications with transmittal sheets to the required passport processing center.
    • Perform cashiering duties following County policies and procedures.
    • Perform and processes credit card orders and resolve any related customer issues.
    • Accept applications for tax abatements and property valuation appeals.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
    • Collect and receipt fees for various transactions and services; balance money received at end of day and prepare applicable reporting materials.
    • Perform other tasks in support of the Clerk/Auditors Office as assigned.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge of standard office technology, equipment, software, and practices and procedures

    Skilled in reading, writing, and basic math

    Skilled in cashiering and cash handling

    Ability to demonstrate excellent public relations and establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public

    Ability to follow verbal and written procedures and instructions

    Ability to act independently and as a team member

    Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally, in writing, and publicly

    Ability to read and interpret State and Federal laws and guidelines associated with marriage and passports

    Ability to use sound judgment, deductive reasoning, and clarifying questions to effectively assist the public and perform job duties; interact with people in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner

    Ability to organize, prioritize, and accurately complete work in a timely manner and under stress and pressure

    Required Education and Experience

    1. High School diploma or equivalent.

    2. One (1) year of general customer service experience in a retail, call center, office, or other related environment.

    3. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

    4. Preference may be given to applicants with a documented typing speed of 40 wpm or more.

    5. Preference may be given to applicants who are fluent in Spanish, Russian, Tagalog, or Hebrew. Premium pay of an additional $1.00 per hour may be available.
