***: Under broad supervision, a Cafeteria Attendant Supervisor supervises Cafeteria Attendant's in a military food service environment to assure workers follow proper safety and health standards in accordance with Public Health and Military requirements. Employees in this job class schedule create work schedules, and perform work duties to assist with the daily operation of cafeteria attendant requirements at the site. This job class requires knowledge of safety and health in the workplace; and the ability to train, organize, schedule, and supervise the work of disabled and non-disabled staff.


TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. *Prioritizes, assigns and schedules job tasks, and adjusts schedules as necessary in response to staff absences.

2.

*Oversees work activities being performed; such as checking the pricing of cash register items, unloading of silverware into utensil containers, placing of clean pots and pans in designated areas, stocking food service areas with utensils, sanitizing of dining room areas, replenishing dining room items, bussing of tables, cleaning of spills, floor cleaning between meals, cleaning and sanitization of grills, disposal of trash inside and outside the dining facility, cleaning and stocking of restrooms, and breaking down and recycling of cardboard.

3. *Supervises employees; ensures a competent, motivated team through hiring, training, development, counseling and reviewing the performance of employees.

*Inspects work to ensure areas are ready at designated time for service hours in accordance with established procedures, safety regulations, and guidelines.

5. *Assists Manager with interviewing, hiring, training, counseling, and performance reviews.

6.

*Provides work instructions and trains staff regarding safe, proper procedures and operation of food service equipment; such as the operation of dishwasher or clipper machine where pots and pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, plates, and bowls are rinsed and stacked in dish racks to be mechanically sanitized.

7. *Maintains a good strong working relationship with Prime contractor, military, and civil service counterparts.

8. *Conducts and participates in a variety of departmental and other meetings on a regular basis.

9. *Provides friendly and helpful customer service within the terms of the contract.

10. *Conducts and documents (employee) trainings to ensure all certification requirements in safety/training have been met.

11. *Manages end of shift deposits to be submitted to military accountant.

12. *Manages time cards, sick days, and vacations to ensure departmental coverage and customer satisfaction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Three or more years of experience in food service or related field including one year of supervisory experience;
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges, preferred;
  • Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately;
  • Ability to effectively supervise and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills using appropriate business English;
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, common sense and problem solving skills;
  • Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and customers;
  • Effective customer service skills;
  • Intermediate computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
  • Knowledge of business English including vocabulary and spelling;
  • Fundamental mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division;
  • Ability to establish priorities and solve operational problems;
  • Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.
