Description

Responsibilities:


  • Review the construction plans, specifications, and attend prebid meetings to determine project's requirements and project estimate.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop costeffective mechanical solutions that align with the project budget.
  • Work with engineers and designers to identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering. This may involve suggesting alternative materials or systems that are more economical without compromising performance.
  • Interpret and/or fill in scope gaps when drawings are unfinished.
  • Perform a detailed quantity takeoff, which involves identifying and quantifying all the appropriate materials and components needed for the mechanical systems. This includes pipes, ducts, fittings, valves, pumps, and any associated equipment. Taking into consideration factors like pressure, temperature, and environmental conditions.
  • Provide ongoing cost estimates as the design evolves. This helps ensure that the project stays on budget and allows for adjustments if necessary.
  • Solicit bids from subcontractors to be incorporated into the estimate for accurate pricing.
  • Calculate the costs of materials, labor, and equipment required for the project. Taking into consideration factors such as material prices, labor rates, project complexity, and local market conditions.
  • Incorporated project information, qualifications, clarifications, and exclusions into a project proposal for review with the project team.

Qualifications:


  • At least 5 years proven experience in mechanical estimating, preferably with expertise in both Design-Build and Plan and Spec projects.
  • Proven experience with a successful track record estimating complex projects.
  • Knowledge and understanding Proficient in Quote Soft, Quote Express, or similar estimating software and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge and clear understanding of current mechanical codes. With an understanding of piping and ducting systems, including the various materials, sizes, and installation methods.
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
  • Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
