    JOB SPECIFICDUTIES:

    • Demonstratesknowledge and skills necessary to provide services based on thephysical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and other relatedcriteria appropriate population in his/her assigned area
    • Maintains required core competencies.
    • Complies with set Policies and Procedures (i. e. nametag, dress code, parking, smoking, etc.)
    • Understands who our customers are and what our customersexpect of us.
    • Support other members of theTeam meeting customer needs.
    • Demonstratesability to work effectively as a multidisciplinary teammember.
    • Performs all aspects of patient carein an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces thelikelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
    • Maintains patient comfort and privacy.
    • Notifies Nurse when patient has pain.
    • Maintains and prepares room between patients andprocedures.
    • Documents patient care performed,including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
    • Maintains stock and supplies as needed.
    • Performs other re related duties as assigned orrequested.

    COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONALEXPECTATIONS:

    • Demonstrates communication skills necessary to interactwith persons of varying age and/or cultures.
    • Answers telephone as assigned, routes calls or takesmessages appropriately.
    • Supports the Missionand Philosophy of the hospital and the Department. Demonstrates anunderstanding and application of these policies.
    • Respects confidentiality.
    • Utilizeschain of command appropriately to resolve issues.
    • Utilizes chain of command appropriately to resolveissues.
    • Promotes an environment in which thepatient care team can work cooperatively towardobjectives.
    • Uses verbal, nonverbal, andwritten communication skills, which reflect professional nursingstandards; communicates effectively with co-workers, medical staff,and ancillary departments.
    • Demonstrates a highlevel of mental and emotional tolerance, even temperament, tact,sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude whenrelating with patients and families.

    COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL EXPECTATIONSDUTIES – continued.

    • Communicates appropriately, positively, and clearly tophysicians, staff, and management.
    • Consultsother departments as appropriate to provide and collaborate inpatient care and performance improvement activities.
    • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized andfunction well under stressful situations.
    • Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes workwithin designated time.

    QUALITY IMPROVEMENT / LEGALCOMPLIANCE:

    Quality Improvement

    • Participates in hospital quality activities asrequired.
    • Participatesin department quality activities as required.
    • The employee will adhere to organizational/-departmentalcustomer service standards.

    Demonstrates understanding of LegalCompliance issues and their responsibilities forsame.

    • Participates in yearly legal compliancetraining.
    • Explains departmental chain ofcommand.
    • Explainspurpose of Legal Compliance Hotline and utilizes ifindicated.
    • Participates in departmental LegalCompliance plan.
    • AttendOrientation/Re-Orientation.
    • Completed Annual Department Competencies.
    • Recognizes and respondsappropriately to ethical dilemmas; confers with appropriateresource personnel when making ethical decisions.

    PROFESSIONALDEVELOPMENT:

    Promotes positive public relations for the department and thehospital.

    • Presentsself in a professional manner; assists in community serviceprograms as requested.
    • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat andclean.
    • Wears ID badge while on duty, with nameand face visible.
    • Comes to work on time andcompletes work within designated timeframes.
    • Maintains standards of professional society proceduresand ethical behavior.
    • Works at maintaining agood rapport and a cooperative working relationship withphysicians, departments, and staff.
    • Effectively communicates to personnel and encouragesinteractive departmental meetings and discussion.

    Attends required department meetings,in-services and educational programs.

    • Attends a minimum of 50% of staffmeetings.
    • Attends a minimum of 50% of allinservices.
    • Follows up to read or findinformation on missed meetings and inservices.
    • Completes annual education within one month ofEOD.
    • Provides education to staff onperformance improvement. Ability to plan and organize orientationand in-service training for unit staff members. Participates inguidance and educational programs.

    Completes annual review of mandatory requirements withinone month from employmentdate
