About Us:
Asociacion Mayab is a San Francisco-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2005 by a group of Mayan individuals.
Rooted in Mayan culture, we are dedicated to empowering and responding to the needs of Mayan families and individuals in San Francisco.
Our programs range from COVID-19 training and education to legal assistance and community engagement, all aimed at enhancing the equity, safety, and well-being of the Maya community.
Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Assistant/Case/Grant Coordinator plays a pivotal role in providing essential support to Mayan families and individuals.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop outreach plans in collaboration with the Executive Director to address the needs of Mayan families and individuals, with a focus on housing, food security, COVID19 recovery, and legal support.
- Conduct intakes and assessments to identify and address individual and family needs effectively.
- Provide direct assistance, including researching and connecting families to social, community, and health services.
- Coordinate the Language Access Committee to train Mayan translators and interpreters.
- Cultivate relationships with funders and assist in grant proposal development, reporting, and invoicing.
- Assist in fundraising activities and perform light marketing duties.
- Maintain participant files and provide regular progress reports.
- Attend meetings and maintain communication with partner organizations.
- Provide culturally competent services and interpretation support as needed.
Qualifications:
- 2 year/some college experience in relevant fields such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, etc.
- Experience working with diverse immigrant families and individuals, particularly those underserved or impacted by systems.
- Multicultural/Multilingual: fluent in English and Spanish.
- Strong organizational skills and dependability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills and virtual communication platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members.
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
