Job Overview:
Duties:
- Process payroll for employees accurately and timely
- Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
- Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
- Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
- Answer staff questions about wages, deductions, attendance, and time records
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role
- Proficient in using payroll software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, Paychex, or Ceridian
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing
- Experience with journal entries and 10key typing
- Previous experience working as a payroll clerk or in an accounting role is beneficial
