As a Management Trainee in our Field Management Training program (FMT), you will concentrate on enhancing your leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and operational abilities, while fostering relationships across the organization. Upon successful completion of our 14-week development program and transition to an FOS role, you will not only receive a salary increase but may also have the opportunity to relocate. Subsequently, you will be able to continue your journey of hard work, learning, and career advancement.

What you'll do on a typical day:

Attend targeted training, including on-the-job, computer-based, and classroom-style sessions to acquire the essential skills required for success as a Freight Operations Supervisor.
Rotate through various assignments and shifts, enhancing your knowledge and confidence, making a direct impact on the profitability of your training location or service center.
Supervise staff (dockworkers and drivers) on the dock, overseeing inbound, city, and/or outbound freight operations during different shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Utilize top-notch technology applications and reports to ensure the achievement of goals by managing tonnage, financial metrics, KPIs, and other administrative tasks.
Develop the skills to coach and train a diverse group of employees, helping them reach their full potential.
Champion our values by embodying them and maintaining high standards within your team.
Emphasize quality and safety standards, serving as a role model and mentor to others.
Receive mentoring and leadership training from local and executive leaders across the organization.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you must have:

2 years of relevant work experience or military service.
Willingness to relocate during and immediately after completing the 14-week development program.
An inclination for utilizing and learning new technology, along with the ability to quickly grasp new applications.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.

It would be beneficial if you also possess:

A bachelor's degree in business, transportation, distribution, or logistics, or military background, preferably with an NCO rank.
Leadership experience involving a mix of work, civic, military, or educational roles.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, with readiness for overtime as necessary.
A positive attitude, the capability to motivate a team, and effective communication skills to achieve objectives.
High energy, self-motivation, multitasking abilities, exceptional communication skills, and critical thinking prowess.

This role demands the capacity to:

Lift objects of different shapes, sizes, and weights up to 50 lbs regularly.
Perform tasks like reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling.
Stand and walk for extended periods on a loading dock in open-air conditions that can be slippery and noisy, not climate-controlled.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Operate a motor vehicle and undergo training for forklift certification.
