***: New York Film Academy is looking for qualified, energetic instructors to teach in our Animation Summer Camps for kids, ages We are looking for teachers skilled in animation techniques with various backgrounds and expertise.


Effective Date:
Orientation June 24, 2024 ; Classes Start July 8, August 16, 2024


REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The daytoday duties required of this position may vary._
  • Deliver instruction in accordance with the learning objectives set for the course, including practical skills, methods, theories and techniques.
  • Provide oneonone consultations with students, if and when necessary.
  • Develop & manage course syllabus materials & lesson plans.
  • Facilitate peer assessment and encourage discussion & constructive criticism in class.
  • Assess student work, including but not limited to, assigning projects, papers and exercises.
  • Submit attendance promptly to the Director of Camps.
  • Inform the Director of Camps if incidents occur in class which cause an unsafe learning environment for students or faculty.
  • Adhere to institutionwide policies & procedures and follow the correct protocol with respect to disciplining students.
  • Attend & participate in faculty meetings and/or departmental curricula meetings, if requested by the Director of Camps.
  • Prep and organize gear for class; can include, but is not limited to, film and digital cameras, lights and various stands.
  • Guide students through handson classes, handling the equipment doing minor lifting and shifting of gear.
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:


  • Professional experience in their respective department with a passion for storytelling and problem solving
  • Substantial professional experience in the discipline of Animation
  • Fun and energetic attitude that translates well to high school students
  • Ability to adjust teaching methods and styles to fit the needs of each student and class as a whole
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple class tracks per day
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multitask and think on their feet
  • Computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment, Google Docs, gmail and google calendar
  • Ethical/Honest evidence of the practice of a high level confidentiality
  • Ability to receive and give feedback with coworkers while prioritizing students well being
  • Collaborative willing to work with fellow instructors on any required departmental work, such as curriculum development and planning
  • In the absence of an undergraduate or graduate degree, the instructor'sbody of work, relevant experience, teaching experience and training in their specified field will be evaluated & documented in a formal degreelevel rubric

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:


  • Master (equivalent professional experience) in Stop-Motion Animation or related field
  • 23 years of Stop-Motion experience for television or feature film
  • Experience in armature creation
- wire and ball-joint, modeling and skinning

  • Program skills: Dragon, After-Effects, Premiere, Photoshop
  • Camera & Lighting Skills needed to light and produce Stop-Motion
  • Substantial professional experience in their respective department
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ethical/Honest evidence of the practice of a high level confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Collaborative willing to work with fellow instructors on any required departmental work, such as curricular development and planning
  • In the absence of an undergraduate or graduate degree, the instructor's training exceptional body of work, relevant experience, teaching experience and training in their specified field will be evaluated & documented in a formal degreelevel rubric

  • Office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, phone, fax machine, copier and calculator
  • Filmmaking Equipment (if appropriate to courses taught)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Google Suite
