Position Overview:


Reporting directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of the School of Pharmacy will lead efforts to continue in the school's tradition of innovative teaching, learning, research, scholarship, and patient/client-centered care.

The Dean will lead multidisciplinary efforts to cooperate with community organizations and systems delivering direct patient care.

The Dean will oversee the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program housed within the School of Pharmacy.


Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) was founded in 1997 as the first higher education institution in the United States dedicated exclusively to education and research related to the applied life sciences.

KGI has grown over the past 25 years to offer innovative postgraduate degrees and certificates integrating life and health sciences.


The institution is divided into three schools:
the Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences (Riggs), the School of Pharmacy (SOP), and the School of Health Sciences (SHS). The Riggs School focuses on business, regulatory affairs, device and diagnostic engineering, biomanufacturing, and clinical trials.

The School of Health Sciences includes a Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies, a Master of Science in Genetic Counseling, and a Doctor of Occupational Therapy.

The School of Pharmacy, home to the Doctor of Pharmacy program, began in 2013. KGI employs an entrepreneurial approach to promoting solid connections within the life sciences and healthcare sectors.

It provides pathways for students to become involved in hands-on, real-world, and team-based projects to prepare them to be leaders in healthcare and the applied life sciences.

The enrollment of KGI is around 650 full-time students, enabling a close community of scholars with shared goals and vision.

Education and Experience:

Administration (85%):

Provide strategic direction for the continued innovative and successful education of pharmacy students.

Provide leadership and work towards integrating the school with health care clinics and systems to enhance the professional missions of the school and the individual programs.

Promote innovative pedagogy and engage in teaching within the integrated team-based learning model.

Enhance the visibility, status, and reputation of the School of Pharmacy locally and nationally while assuring sustained funding for groundbreaking research.

Lead fundraising efforts in collaboration with Advancement in setting goals, developing strategies, and implementing action plans to meet those goals.

In collaboration with the Vice President of Admissions and Marketing, the Dean will initiate a strategic student recruitment and retention initiative to combat competition from surrounding states and drive the need for innovative approaches to recruit and retain students.

In collaboration with the Dean of the Henry E.

Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences and School of Health Sciences, work to develop campus-wide collaborative opportunities for enhanced programs, budget management, and interprofessional network development.

Foster a safe and respectful academic environment that attracts, retains, and develops outstanding faculty, administrators, and staff.
