STAFF DUTY STATEMENT
JOB TITLE:
Student Volunteer Coordinator
HOURS PER WEEK:
20 hours per week_, Occasional evenings and weekends_
REPORTS TO:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred and/or experience in the field of aging and the delivery of human social services.
- Culturally competent for customer relations.
- Open to learning about the aging network and community resources.
- Ability to develop professional relationships with volunteers, the community atlarge, and communitybased organizations in Ventura County.
- Computer literate. Knowledge of the Google drive and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to pass background check and valid California Drivers License.
- High level of interpersonal skills working with the elderly and adult volunteers.
JOB DUTIES:
- Develop and maintain relationships with high schools, colleges, service clubs for the recruitment of youth volunteers who serve the aging population in Ventura County.
- Support the retention and renewal of volunteers, with an emphasis on the Building Bridges Intergenerational Program, chore teams and Honey Do Crew.
- Conduct program orientation/training for volunteers with a focus on sensitivity to the needs of the elderly.
- Work with the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to identify adult volunteers who will supervise student volunteers in service to seniors throughout Ventura County communities.
- Schedule volunteer visitations, coordinate transportation, document service delivery, and maintain the CareWorks database.
- Administer pre/post evaluations to participating students to measure knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity for the advanced aged and their challenges.
- Maintain good communication with volunteers to confirm scheduled appointments
- Monitor volunteer experiences to support retention.
- Field phone calls, provide Information and referrals to established community resources to meet client's needs.
- Work cooperatively with the Office Team to enhance case management protocols for client support and volunteer engagement. Consult on current volunteer training manual.
- Provide assistance for special events, fundraising activities, and volunteer recruitment programs as needed.
- Attend community affairs/events as requested for networking, professional development and senior outreach activities. Act as a liaison to community groups, as assigned
- Support fund raising and media campaigns, representing the program as needed to CAREGIVER constituents
- Contribute to social media
- Other related duties as assigned or as requested by the Executive Director.
