Dixie Chemical has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician to join our dynamic team

Job Summary


Under the supervision of the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Technician will be responsible for performing day-to-day field requirements to ensure compliance with Waste, Water, and LDAR programs.


Essential Job Functions
***Manage solid and universal waste throughout the facility including but not limited to scheduling shipments, sampling of waste, profiling waste, and/or ordering proper disposal containers.

  • Handle related compliance reporting and other waste tracking reporting as directed by the Environmental Manager
  • Operate forklift to move and/or load waste containers
  • Offloading waste containers into bulk storage tanks
  • Loading of bulk shipping containers for waste disposal
  • Conduct periodic inspections and sampling of outfalls for TPDES, MSGP, and/or SWPPP compliance.
  • Conduct inspections of secondary containments per the SPCC Plan.
  • Generate work orders as needed for repairs identified during inspections.
  • Assist with the daytoday oversight of the LDAR program.
  • Assist operations with daytoday monitoring of wastewater discharge to ensure compliance with permit.
  • Work closely with operations to improve compliance with environmental programs.
  • Provide support to operations on issues related to wastewater treatment and waste disposal.
  • Complete regulatory training as assigned by Environmental manager
  • Support the Environmental Manager in recommending, developing and implementing Environmental compliance procedures and programs where necessary.
  • Makes suggestions and recommendation on process improvements
  • Other assignments derived from the Dixie Chemical leadership team to meet the goals and objectives of the organization.

Minimum Requirements

  • 35 years of experience in the environmental field, preferably at chemical manufacturing facility
  • Operating forklift experience is preferred
  • Strong initiative and drive to succeed
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment
  • Strong communication skills, including reading and writing
  • Problem solving skills
