    Description

    Thompson Metal Fab is a well-established veteran-owned heavy structural steel and plate fabrication business in Vancouver, WA.We are seeking an experienced professional to manage the Quality Control Department operations, staff, and subcontractors.The Quality Control Manager is an in-office role.

    Quality Control Manager Position Responsibilities include:

    • Review project specifications, applicable standards, manufacturers printed instructions and procedures.
    • Originate surveillance and inspection of procedures and the work.
    • Consult with onsite project management personnel to ensure compliance with contractual quality control requirements.
    • Establish accurate schedules for project coverage and costs.
    • Coordinate the quality control efforts of subcontractors and suppliers to correspond with the overall Quality Control plan.
    • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with clients, agencies, and co-workers.
    • Ensure required paperwork is completed thoroughly and accurately.
    • Ensure safety reporting protocols are followed in a timely, appropriate manner.
    • Maintain effective communication with customers and crew.
    • Implement material procurement controls to ensure compliance with specifications including proper material selection, purchasing, receiving and storage.
    • Conform standard of materials per project and contract documents.
    • Monitor requisitions for material, material handling, and proper storage.
    • Responsible for identification, control, maintenance and calibration verification of all measuring and testing equipment/instrumentation.
    • Ensure control and documentation of any non-conforming items.
    • Comply with assignments and duties of project-specific Letter(s) of Authorization.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Benefits include:

    • Annual salary range is $85,000-$115,000 depending upon qualifications and experience.

    Quality Control Manager Desired Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilitiesinclude:

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • 4+ years of experience in Quality Control Management.
    • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and NDE experience is preferred.
    • Knowledge of WPS/PQR generation to ASME, AWS D1.1 and D1.5 codes of construction is preferred.
    • Ability to identify and resolve any quality-related issues in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills that foster a motivated, productive, and cooperative team.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Prior experience working directly with floor/shop personnel.
    • Skilled at prioritizing and planning work activities. Utilizes time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
    • Adaptable. Competently addresses changes in the work environment and manages competing demands.
    • Demonstrates consistent reliability.
    • Seeks feedback for continuous performance improvement.
    • Ensures and demonstrates effective implementation of safety and security procedures.
    • Experience handling and professionally maintaining confidential information.
