Role & Responsibilities:


  • The Packaging Technician I position is responsible for packaging and packaging assembly to produce a variety of cannabis vape cartridges, cannabis concentrates (live resin/live rosin), and cannabis edibles. In addition to their principal duties, the Packaging Technician I position is expected to be able to consistently package at a rate that will meet the established KPIs for each assigned packaging task, and to maintain GMP standards for all packaging areas as instructed by the Packaging Manager, Packaging Supervisor, and all Packaging Technician levels II

Primary Duties (including, but not limited to):

Packaging of vape cartridges:

  • 510 thread platform
  • AirGraft pod platform
  • Disposable vape platform
  • Tasks within vape packaging (varies depending on the platform):
  • Blister packing and labeling of pre-filled pods, delivery of the fully packaged units to Distribution & Fulfillment.
  • Filling & capping of vape cartridges
  • Placing the filled & capped cartridges into assembled boxes.
  • Labeling of packaged boxes to ensure that all compliance and marketing information is properly and professionally displayed on each unit.
  • Assembling, packaging, and labeling of mastercase units for delivery to Distribution & Fulfillment.

Packaging of concentrates:

  • Live resin budder, HTE, HCE, diamonds, sauce, sugar, crumble, shatter, etc.
  • Live rosin fresh press, cold cure batter, jam, etc.
  • Tasks within concentrates packaging (varies depending on the product format and brand):
  • Pre-packaging jar inspections and clean-out for quality control.
  • Weighing out cannabis concentrates and packaging these weighed amounts into vials/jars.
  • Jar inspections and capping.
  • Labeling of jar lids with branding labels.
  • Labeling of jar bases with compliance and strain labels.
  • Shrink wrapping of packaged and labeled concentrate jars.
  • Box assembly.
  • Placing of the packaged and labeled concentrate jars into the assembled boxes.
  • Labeling of packaged boxes to ensure that all compliance and marketing information is properly and professionally displayed on each unit.
  • Assembling, packaging, and labeling of mastercase units for delivery to Distribution & Fulfillment.

Packaging of edibles:

  • Gummies, chocolates, beverages, tinctures, etc.
  • Tasks within edibles packaging (varies depending on the product):
  • Receiving units from production when ready for packaging.
  • Packaging varying #s of pieces into varying container styles (poptops, blister packs, mylar bags, etc.
  • Labeling of packaged units to ensure that all compliance and marketing information is properly displayed on each unit.
  • Weighing of fully packaged and labeled units to confirm # of units packaged.
  • Assembling, packaging, and labeling of mastercase units for deliver to Distribution & Fulfillment.

Other duties:

  • General support functions within the Packaging production areas.
  • Cleaning of the general working area associated with your shift
  • Work well and effectively with fellow coworkers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision received:
Lead Packaging Supervisor, Packaging Supervisor, all Packaging Technician IIs - IIIs.


Supervision given:
N/A


Evaluation process:30, 60, & 90-day evaluations as well as annual reviews following this initial evaluation period.


Qualifications:


Minimum qualifications for education, training, and prior experience:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a background screening for employment within the CA cannabis industry.

Preferred skills & knowledge:


  • Any specific education or experience working with cannabis packaging, assembly line production within any industry, general chemistry, or within a lab environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Direct experience working in a laboratory, commercial kitchen, or similar GMP production setting.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain internal inventory records.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements:


  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and use of hands.
  • Frequently crouching, stooping, bending, and reaching.
  • Stand for short/ high periods of time.
  • Sit for short/ medium periods of time.
  • Walk for short/high periods of time.
  • Occasionally sit on the floor or at floor level.
  • Handle the responsibilities and routine stress often associated with this position.

Attendance & general performance expectations:


  • 40 hrs. per week minimum, additional hrs. as needed by the production schedule.
