Community Partnerships Associate

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT


Sacred Heart Community Service (SHCS) located in San José, CA is looking for a dynamic relationship-builder to join our team as the Community Partnerships Associate (CPA) to cultivate and steward partnerships with current and new organizations, schools, and faith communities that will result in increased revenue and engagement in SHCS' charitable, social justice, and anti-racism work.


Position Summary


A member of the Community Development Team, the CPA develops, implements, and tracks progress on a strategy to cultivate strong mutually beneficial and enduring partnerships with faith-based, civic, academic, and corporate organizations and their leadership that lead to philanthropic giving, volunteer engagement, and solidarity policy action.

Relationship building includes listening to organizational interests, matching them with SHCS opportunities, scheduling, orienting, and debriefing volunteer groups, coordinating organizational giving and drives, thanking donors and volunteers, and planning and supporting events for donors and volunteers.

The position will spearhead the development of committees designed to activate youth and young professionals to give of their time, talents, and treasure.

The CPA provides support for planning and execution of SHCS events, member communications, and volunteer operations as needed.


Description of Duties

  • Partnership Development and Outreach Development (80%)_
Spearheads outreach to new and existing partners with a focus on school, civic, and faith based organizations.

Maintains a portfolio of existing and new partners that raises $150-200K annually to support SHCS.

Ensures community relations efforts are aligned with SHCS annual and campaign fundraising efforts.

Leads the development of relationships with schools and colleges for fundraising, in-kind donation drives, and engagement efforts.


Supports development and recruitment of the Youth Advisory Committee of teen volunteer leaders to inspire and activate their peer networks in support of SHCS' mission.

Supports development and recruitment of a young professionals network.

Ensures stellar volunteer experiences for organizational partners working in collaboration with the Volunteer Office and programs.

Supports the operations of the Volunteer Office as needed.


Conduct 1:1s with volunteers, supporting the development of their systems analyses, leadership, and connection to volunteer opportunities, policy campaigns, and organization-wide events.


Organizes, schedules, and conducts community outreach activities including presentations, community events, service fairs, networking events and others for the Community Engagement Team.


Facilitates conversations about the volunteer experience, root causes of poverty, and invites leaders, volunteers, and organizations to give to our cause through financial donations, volunteer and policy campaign activities.

Supports the development of and deployment of social media posts.

  • Leadership (20%)_


Supports the planning and implementation of organization-wide programs, such as our Solidarity Summit, Pack-a-Back and Holiday programs and is available for work during this period - three days before Thanksgiving and the last two weeks of December.

Recruits members and volunteers to participate in public policy campaigns and events.

Participates in policy campaigns as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications and Experience


Strong commitment to our vision of ensuring every child and adult is free from poverty as well as a passion for social justice and strategies that address the causes of poverty.

Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.

Prior experience of leading efforts and coordinating large groups, including public speaking.

Prior experience with CRM databases (such as Salesforce), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Understanding of data management, tracking, and analysis.

Detail oriented, ability to multitask, provide quick responses and are highly organized.

Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Ability to lift up to 30lbs without assistance and up to 50lbs with assistance.

The position requires standing/walking for prolonged periods of time and computer use up to 6-8 hours per day.
