- Participate in day, evening, and weekend duty coverage
- Ensure students are compliant with the Residence Life Policy Manual and College policies
- Help to create and implement larger departmental schedule of educational programming including a monthly/bimonthly programming series based on student needs
- Assess and track completed programs and make future recommendations based on student feedback
- Use HRL data including incident reports to create future programs and prepare programming outcomes
- Conduct necessary conduct hearings, complete database entries and official documentation
- Establish and oversee Residence Hall Council to provide resident students with opportunity to facilitate programs and perform community service
- Establish and maintain office hours to provide visibility and address resident needs and concerns
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with both residents and student staff which promote ongoing communication, mutual support and respect
- Maintain effective positive relationships with all College departments (including, but not limited to, Public Safety, Counseling Services, and Health Services)
- Adheres to the College Code of Conduct.
- Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative College environment.
- Maintains technological competencies utilized by the College.
- Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.
- Commits to professional growth. which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity and inclusion to better serve students.
- Candidates must be accepted into a graduate program for the 2024 spring semester and have full time graduate student status. Preference will be given to candidates in Higher Education/College Personnel or related programs.

- Stipend: This assistantship includes a base stipend for the academic year of $15,000, paid biweekly.

- The GA is provided with a rent-free, furnished apartment, internet access, personal laundry facilities, reserved parking, and free utilities.
- MCC campus bookstore discounts are provided.
- Complimentary tickets for the GA to attend all home, intercollegiate athletic contests, and the use of the recreational facilities free of charge.
- Candidates applying for the HRL GA position should already have applied for admission to graduate school. Check with your respective graduate program for important deadlines. Candidates are responsible for applying to graduate school and completing all requirements for admission, as appointment to position is contingent upon acceptance into a degree-granting graduate program.
- Proof of graduate school enrollment is required for this position.
- GA must maintain a 3.0 grade point average throughout their appointment.

Function of Position:
The Office of Housing and Residence Life is looking for a GA to support program development within the residence halls. The GA will help implement and support larger scale departmental programming such as the weeks of welcome programming to kick start each semester in the residence halls, residence halls' fall and spring festivals, and Fresh Check Day. The GA is expected to fully participate in Resident Director and Resident Assistant training in August and January. The successful GA candidate will serve as a part of the on-call crisis duty rotation and supervise students in a programming capacity. The GA will also be responsible for holding office hours. Professional development opportunities may be available for the successful candidate.
