Position Summary:


The Community Engagement Coach provides direct student support in functioning as a student and as a member of the Mansfield Hall community and the community as a whole.

Community Engagement Coaches assist students in daily activities and provide direction and support in following a daily schedule consistent with the Student Pathway to Independence Plan.

The Community Engagement Coach will also support Structured Study Time, providing academic support to students in a study hall setting.

Like all Mansfield Hall employees, Community Engagement Coaches should embody the mission, values, philosophy, and approach of the organization.


Schedule:


Week A:
Tuesday - Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm

Week B:
Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm


Essential Functions:


  • Contribute to the building and development of student plans
  • Understand student plans, and identify and address successes and struggles relative to their goals
  • Coach and provide regular feedback in following individual plans, including selfcare, social communication, schedule management, and community engagement
  • Identify and address areas of deficiency in meeting the expectations established in the student plan
  • Encourage student independence and the development of life skills
  • Build effective relationships with students
  • Collaborate with Directorlevel staff and Mansfield Hall Administrative Leadership as necessary to ensure the highest quality programming for the students
  • Address and deescalate onsite student wellbeing issues such as heightened emotional situations
  • Managing the staff phone, and working closely/appropriately with Directors and in oncall person during evenings and weekends.
  • Monitor and track student progress through documentation in Google Suite
  • Encourage and facilitate extracurricular activities both within and outside the residence hall
  • Facilitate social interactions in common spaces, during meal times, and community events
  • Tidy common spaces in the building, and assist with meal setup and takedown
  • Perform other duties not specified, but essential to the functioning of the Mansfield Hall program

Minimum Qualifications:


  • A bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • One or more years of experience working in or with diverse learners, higher education settings, multiple stakeholders, or a combination of these
  • Experience supporting students and stakeholders around academic/social growth and development in a higher education environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Ability to develop strong professional relationships with colleagues and students, including demonstrating selfadvocacy, and setting boundaries with colleagues and students
  • Ability to professionally represent Mansfield Hall in external interactions with partners and service providers
  • Knowledge of the learning and social challenges inherent in the Mansfield Hall student community
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team, in a flexspace work environment
  • Ability to multitask and oversee an environment consisting of up to 50 students
  • A passion for supporting team goals and success.
