- Match with a peer facing terminal cancer: Based on shared interests and experiences, you'll be matched with an individual seeking peer support.
- Engage in regular one-on-one communication: This can include phone calls, video chats, in-person meetings, or email exchanges, depending on your and your peer's preferences.
- Offer emotional support and encouragement: Be a source of comfort and understanding, helping your peer navigate the challenges and uncertainties of terminal illness.
- Share your own experiences and insights: Relate your own journey or observations to provide valuable perspective and hope to your peer.
- Connect your peer with additional resources: Guide them to relevant resources offered by Guided Path or other organizations, such as support groups, counseling services, or financial assistance programs.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect boundaries: Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and respect the privacy of your peer.
- Personal experience with terminal illness, either directly or through supporting loved ones, is preferred.
- Strong empathy and compassion with a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to build rapport and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to Guided Path's mission and values.
- Reliability and a regular availability for scheduled calls or meetings are essential.
- Must pass a background check.
