Job Summary:


The Materials Control Manager is part of the overall Supply Chain team and will play a key role in ensuring that the business unit achieves overall food cost targets and inventory control objectives.

They will work collaboratively across departments and with all levels of employees within the facility. In addition, they will take a lead role in researching and resolving material AVT (Actual vs. Theoretical usage) and developing corrective action plans.

The Materials Control Manager will be responsible for reviewing overall usage of materials within the unit and will support unit readiness for global materials audits [MMAT].

Having an investigative, problem-solving and analytical mindset is critical to achieving success in this role.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, related to material control.
Manages tactical execution of internal materials auditing tasks including:
Yield Checks, Portioning Checks, Flight Checks, Over-boarding, Over-catering, Substitutions, Waste etc

  • Works collaboratively with unit Supply Chain team to improve physical inventory management.
  • Support activities to improve inventory accuracy and reduction of overall food costs.
  • Proactively addresses issues leading to outofstocks or excess inventory.
  • Accountable for reviewing monthly materials metrics with management team.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts. Develop and share best practices within the region.
  • Supports and leads compliance to global MM KPIs and MMAT audit.
  • Lead crossdepartment collaboration to ensure that Gate OPEX elements related to materials control are sustained. (including 5S, Kaizen events)
  • Develop action plans to ensure company policies and procedures related to inventory control and materials management are deployed properly.
  • Conduct department meetings and brief the team on a daily basis;
  • Reviews daily materials reports.
  • Lead Weekly Materials Meetings. Coordinates related activities/tasks including audits and item specific research.
  • Responsible for MIB (material info board) and running all required reports.
  • Completes and coordinates AVT(actual versus theoretical) investigations and troubleshooting.
  • Works with financial controllers or procurement teams to complete ad hoc financial analysis related to outofstocks, substitutions, PPV, etc.
  • Support billbacks to customers on product deviations.
  • Participates in make or buy process and analysis.
  • Responsible for the annual performance evaluations of direct reports in compliance with the PA&P guidelines and regional/local initiatives.
  • Must have schedule flexibility to complete research and audits at various times/days as required.
  • Participates with monthly physical inventory process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


Education:


  • Desirable specialization in logistics and/or supply chain management

Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years' experience working within logistics or supply chain in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing inventory and materials within an ERP system
  • Experience working within a crossfunctional team
  • Demonstrated experience of process improvement design and implementation
  • Experience of working in a Food Hygiene/Health & Safety/High Security environment preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of Airline Catering operations is preferred, but not essential.

Technical Skills:
(Certification, Licenses and Registration)

  • Proficient knowledge (Excel, Word, Outlook, BI and SharePoint)
  • Functional knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and Inventory Control

Language / Communication Skills:

  • Fluent in written and verbal English language. Knowledge of a second language is a plus
  • Ability to communicate well with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing.
