Duties:


  • Serves as an expert in the furnishing of technical information, assistance and advice dealing with implementation and integration of diverse technically complex systems as they relate to the successful operation of a modem printing/publishing.
  • Manages Pace server databases involving the planning, development, implementation, and administration of systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data.
  • Provides authoritative advice for management of complex, long term projects involving design, procurement and installation of new information systems.
  • Designs, normalizes, develops, installs, and implements databases; maintains, monitors, performance tuning, backup, and recovery of databases. Installs, configures, and maintains database management systems software.
  • Analyzes and plans for anticipated changes in data capacity requirements; develops and administers data standards, policies, and procedures; develops and implements data mining and data warehousing programs.

To qualify for the IT Specialist (DATAMGT), PG , you must possess the basic qualification requirement specific to this series and grade:


For all 2210 positions, individuals must demonstrate they have experience in each of the four competencies listed below:


_Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

To qualify for the IT Specialist (DATAMGT), PG , you must meet the following requirements:


One year of
specialized experience equivalent to the PG-12 or higher grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.


Examples of specialized experience include:

  • 1) Evaluates and provides recommendations on new database technologies and architectures;
  • 2) Analyzing workflow associated with printing processes to include analyzing XML workflow; and
  • 3) Coordinates with other organizations to accomplish goals and integrate simultaneous project activities.
  • 4) Experience related to Print Management Information System (MIS) solutions.

In addition to the above Requirements this position requires the following-

Knowledge of print MIS databases involving the planning, development, implementation, and administration of systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data

Knowledge of XML and XML data translation techniques such as XPath.
