Description
The Director of Administration and Operations plays an important role in overseeing diverse initiatives to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
Under the supervision of the Dean, this role ensures alignment with the university's mission, fostering a positive working environment, and seamless functioning of various departments across GSEP.
Duties
- Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies and make recommendations for action consistent with the priorities of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology. Meet regularly with divisional leadership to develop, track, and audit department processes and help implement department initiatives.
- Participate in longterm planning for GSEP, especially initiatives geared towards achieving higher standards of operational excellence. Working closely with divisional leaders, help achieve department Objectives and Key Results each fiscal year.
- Create memoranda, reports, and summaries as requested by GSEP leadership and decisionmaking bodies.
- Ensure the allocation of GSEP resources is consistent with budget and mission.
- Develop and review all administrative policies and procedures, update current procedural manuals, periodically assess them for effectiveness, and assist deans in operational planning and execution development.
- Develop and execute GSEP engagement initiatives for faculty and staff. Manage monthly staff meetings. Foster a collaborative and positive GSEP work culture.
- Develop and execute GSEP professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. Lead development training programs.
- Supervise the Operations Manager and serve as backup operational support. Oversee all daytoday operations for GSEP staff, faculty, and students and support the GSEP Administration and Dean's Office. Responsible for GSEP lobby and reception, and liaise between GSEP and its internal and external constituents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Preferred:
Doctoral degree in business administration, higher education administration, or a related field. Substantial experience in leadership roles, preferably in administration and operations within a higher education context. A track record of effective problem-solving and decision-making in a complex organizational environment.
Qualified individuals should be able to articulate a strong commitment to diversity, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.
This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range:
$92,000 - $108,000 per year
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
