SUMMARY/GOAL OF THE POSITION:


Responsible for teaching assigned adult education high school credit diploma courses at WERACE by implementing the CCS in planning geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting.

Develop and plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students enrolled in the class.


ESSENTIAL TASKS OF THE POSITION (Illustrative not inclusive):

  • Plan and prepares relevant and practical class lessons and monitors student's performance;
  • Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods, that include group or individualized instruction as well as computer programs that help students make learning gains. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals;
  • Creates a climate that encourages and supports learning;
  • Complete and maintain appropriate student registration, attendance, and assessment records, and ensure timely submission of
  • Responsible for effective classroom management that enhances student learning;
  • Understands, models, and teaches legal and ethical practices regarding information and educational technology;
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the Director or Facilitator of Adult Education
  • Participate in curriculum development

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to teach students of diverse abilities and backgrounds and overcome barriers to success in a multilevel class;
  • Ability to relate well to different groups of students of different ages and ability levels;
  • Exceptional computer skills and familiarity with software programs;
  • Ability to use a variety of audiovisual equipment;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff;
  • Ability and desire to enthusiastically foster a love of learning by students;
  • Exceptional computer skills and be familiar with software programs

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Adult Ed certification (or ability to gain certification)
  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Background check required

WORK YEAR:


  • Credit Diploma Program class offerings are provided during days or evenings including weekend seminars, full semester classes meeting twice per week for two hours per meeting, or condensed classes meeting twice per week for one month for three hours per week; schedule to be determined based on WERACE need.
