Breast Health Nurse Navigator Job Description
AT TOPS our Breast Health Nurse Navigator is a patient advocate devoted to the health and well-being of breast cancer patients.
A Breast Health Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse, trained in breast cancer care, which guides and supports patients through the many challenges of breast cancer.
The goal of the Breast Health Nurse Navigator is to ease the burden on patients and their loved ones and to help coordinate the efforts of the medical team when needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed as a professional RN in the state of Texas.
- Must have current BCLS certification.
- BSN preferred but not mandatory
- Previous Nurse Navigation or Oncology experience required.
- Have certification in Breast Patient Navigation or receive certificate within 1 year of employment.
- Demonstrates in depth knowledge of breast cancer risk factors, diagnoses processes, and treatment options.
- Highly effective presentation skills are required to deliver educational information regarding breast health.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams are required.
- Demonstrate ability to plan, organize and follow through on assignments and/or projects and have the ability to analyze and conceptually develop ideas and proposals.
- Demonstrate ability to assume a clinical leadership role and effectiveness as a multidisciplinary team member.
- Must be able to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Must have excellent reasoning ability and good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Basic knowledge of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and their associated side effects is required.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served, ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, and the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her populationspecific and age specific needs.

- 35 years of acute clinical experience in nursing specifically related to plastics, oncology or generalized breast health
- Great attitude
