    Clinical Director

    STATUS:

    • Exempt

    JOB SUMMARY:


    Organizes and supervises the clinicians who provide Individual, Family and Group therapies for students and families primarily in the evenings and on weekends.

    School hours are to be respected whenever possible.

    Proposes a budget for the Department using budgeted position-control ratio of 1:8 to 1:10; and assists in the design and implementation of programmatic improvements.

    The Clinical Director will ensure that the clinical team provides:

    one individual therapy session per case per week; One family therapy session per case per week; and 5 group therapy sessions per week per caseload (and ensuring coverage as required).

    Establishes and effects expectations of continuous quality improvement in the services rendered. Remains current in clinical literature relevant to population needs and current practice. The Clinical Director serves as a member of the Management Executive Committee (MEC) and leads the Admissions Committee.


    PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:


    Ensures that each student has a valid Behavior Improvement Plan (BIP) as part of his/her Individual Education Plan (IEP) or his/her Individual Service Plans (ISP) in a timely manner.

    Collaborates with the Education Director who creates the education portion of for each student who needs an ISP.

    Trains and requires designated therapist to communicate with prior treatment sources, referral sources and parents to obtain relevant background information needed to create the initial BIP and subsequent ISP using the assessments of student needs.

    Works with staff to build into each IEP or ISP an effective plan for integrating each student back into his/her family, school, and community.

    Renews each ISP at least annually and triggers updates more often if necessary.

    Makes sure each student is assigned the case management therapist who delivers the IT and Family sessions is most able to meet his/her needs.

    Reviews samples of documentation weekly to ensure that accurate, meaningful, and complete progress notes are being recorded.

    Collaborates with Education Staff to create monthly progress reports, inclusive of relevant Nursing and Res-Rec data, which provide case updates to parents, consultants, school districts, et al.

    Directs assigned therapists to attend relevant shift changes, treatment team and other meetings regularly.
    Demonstrates creativity to improve student outcomes and trends confirming data.
    Ensures a therapist contacts

    parent/sponsor/referral


    sources within 24 hours of student's placement; Each therapist contacts parents regularly with relevant information unless matters are covered well during family therapy sessions.

    Understands the family and therapy dynamics well enough to direct/provide effective individual, family and group therapies and to serve as an instructor of therapeutic crisis interventions.

    Onboards new therapists and effects OTMSS with each. Ensures professional therapist-student relationships.
    Chairs Restraint Reduction Task Force to safely reduce staff use of restrictive procedures.
    Requires therapists to review treatment goals and issues with their students in weekly IT and group sessions.
    Trains and assists therapists in interpreting student behavioral data and applying change suggestions.

    Requires therapists to work closely daily with education and group living staff to maintain a therapeutic milieu and to participate in an on-call schedule which ensures access to a therapist by any LRA staff.

    Follows contract requirements when creating LRA Policies and Procedures on the use of time out, precautions and more restrictive interventions.

    Ensures that family visits are structured; that therapists assist family members in achieving visit goals; and properly debriefs the student and parents after each visit (whether on campus or at home) is completed.

    Serves as a proponent of robust referral development efforts.

    • Uses?IEP, ISP and BIP objectives when planning instructional, recreation and residential activities.
    13.?Completes necessary documentation within times specified in policies and procedures.
    13.?Reviews critical incidents and participates in root-cause analysis as requested by the Compliance Officer.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • PhD Preferred; or a master's degree and
    • Current license to practice therapy in Utah
    • Three to five years of experience as a practicing and supervising clinician.
    • Proven experience working with adolescents.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • PhD Preferred; or a Master's Degree and current license to practice therapy in Utah
    • Three to five years of experience as a practicing and supervising clinician.
    • Telephone, computer, and face-to-face customer service skills.

    Physical demands:


    Under normal circumstances the employee will need to have the physical capacity to continuously use his/her hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation.

    The employee may be required to do the following:

    Physically able to bend, stand, stoop, or sit for long periods of time.
    Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
    Push / Pull up to 100 lbs.
    Possible restraining of escalated clients
