    Job Description

    Location: San Diego, CA Remote

    Duration: 6+ months With potential to extension

    Pay Range: $50/h - $60/h on W2 DOE

    Summary:

    • The primary role of a data engineer is to manage alterations to computer databases, test, and implement database changes utilizing knowledge of database management systems.
    • A data engineer is typically tasked with planning, coordinating, and executing security measures to protect the computer database.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Test programs or databases, rectify errors, and make required adjustments.
    • Alter existing databases and database management systems or oversee programmers and analysts in making modifications.
    • Create and encode logical and physical database descriptions and define database identifiers to management systems or supervise others in coding descriptions.

    Description:

    • Manage, construct, and enhance data warehouse, develop ETL solutions, automated data flow, and analytics in an "as-a-service" setting.
    • Design and implement scalable, high-performance data processing solutions on AWS utilizing tools such as AWS Lambda, Step Functions, Amazon Redshift, and AWS Glue.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization to comprehend business needs and devise data solutions that align with those requirements.
    • Proactively monitor the environment's health regarding data integrity, data pipeline performance, and overall security, ensuring prompt development, implementation, and communication of resolutions.
    • Establish and uphold data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
    • Create and maintain data architecture and infrastructure to facilitate the expansion and growth of the data platform.
    • Develop tools to continuously monitor environment health, ensure efficient incident communication, and prompt resolution.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers within the team.
    • Implement automation to drive organizational scalability and flexibility.
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies and methodologies in data engineering and leverage them to enhance the data platform.

    Skills:

    • Effective verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
    • Basic aptitude for independent work and time management. Fundamental understanding of database management software.

    Education/Experience:

    • Completion of an Associate's degree in computer programming or equivalent training.
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience.
