The Technical Director (TD) will provide management and hands-on operation for a NYC Studio, a facility that includes one control room, one broadcast studio and one podcast studio for live and live to tape multicamera production.

This position is also responsible for any on-location productions.

The TD will be responsible for building production schedules, building and maintaining budgets, managing freelance bookings, have hands on operations of technical functions in the control room/studio, including technical directing, editing, and field production as needed.

This position will be based out of a NYC Studio's home office corporate site in the midtown area of New York City.

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Report to NYC's Studios Executive Producer
  • Work closely with Executive Producer, Studio Producers and Studio Operations Manager on all productions
  • Manage the archive systems
  • Must have exemplary control room demeanor and etiquette
  • Direct studio productions operating a Tricaster and or Ross production switcher
  • Provide hands on production support for studio and ENG productions
  • Coordinate with Creative Services for graphic and video elements
  • Secure and organize all resources needed for all productions (video clips and audio clips, connectivity for both inbound and outbound feeds, studio set configuration, any additional needs such as lighting, audio, makeup, etc.)
  • Create and distribute weekly production schedules
  • Facilitate the training of contract technical personnel to fillin on an asneeded basis
  • Knowledge/experience in producing high end corporate video
  • Operating streaming Elemental encoders and transmission equipment
  • Responsible for the technical delivery of the programs live to record, encoded, and streamed and replay (e.g. creating viewership links, preproduction tests with internal clients)
  • Ensure the readiness and performance of the Studio and AV systems including, but not limited to, studio production, signal encoding, filebased workflows/MAM, media IT, display technologies, streaming services, and signal monitoring
  • Work with appropriate groups at UBS to ensure live streams are functioning normally
  • Liaise with manufacturers and service providers in support of new solutions specifications, deployments, breakfix and sustained support if necessary
  • Light editing in postproduction
  • Operate Panasonic PTZ cameras
  • Manage VOIP
  • Operate Yamaha CL5 and Benninger audio consoles
  • Operate wireless IFB and Microphone systems
  • Operate RTS and Clearcom intercom systems
  • Maintain a written spreadsheet of any issues that may arise, including details of the incident and any fixes that were put in place
  • Troubleshoot any technical/equipment issues in the control room and studio
  • Consult with and assist BMG engineer(s) (virtually or inperson) to facilitate any repairs to equipment that is not functioning properly

Pay:
$80, $90,000.00 per year
