Duties
As a GS /13/14 Health Scientist Administrator (Program Officer) at NIMHD, the incumbent will:
- Collaborate and work closely with the Division Director and other program officials and staff in a myriad of scientific and administrative management activities.
- Administer a portfolio of extramural research grants, cooperative agreements, contracts (when applicable), training awards, and will manage program priorities to fulfill the mission of Division and NIMHD.
- Develop, write, and present new scientific concepts leading to funding opportunity announcements that bridge existing gaps in Division's scope of work (and/or scientific areas of common interest across Divisions) and promote highquality science within the context of minority health and health care disparities, as funding permits.
- Organize and conduct workshops, conferences, symposia, or similar activities, as funds permit.
- Prepare scientific position papers and staff documents, highlights of significant research findings in missionrelated areas, and special reports on scientific areas or programs within the Division and/or NIMHD's priorities and interests, including reports emerging from collaborations with nonNIH entities, as the opportunity arises.
- Represent the Division or NIMHD on committees, panels, and workgroups, at conferences and meeting as an authority in planning, development, and implementation of minority health and health/health care disparities research programs.
- Work across the NIH and other government and nongovernment agencies to promote and coordinate research focused on minority health and health/health care disparities.
The Ideal Applicant
- Successful completion of a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).

- A newly appointed or reappointed employee may receive service credit for prior work experience or active duty uniformed service that otherwise would not be creditable for the purpose of determining his or her annual leave accrual rate. All creditable service must be directly related to the duties of the position being filled and decisions to allow for such credit must be finalized prior to the selectee's entrance on duty. Recipients will be determined on a casebycase basis based on organizational need, specific case justification, and budget limitations.
