Job Description

The Knoch Lacrosse Club, a private non-profit organization supporting the Knoch High School Boys Lacrosse Team, seeks an individual to fill the position of Head Coach. The primary responsibility of the Head Coach is to help the Knoch Lacrosse Club fulfill its mission: Provide a lacrosse program that emphasizes sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and fair play where players can learn team skills while developing individually through hard work.

The Knoch Lacrosse Club seeks an individual that will:

Inspire sportsmanship, hard work, fair play, fun, and especially teamwork.
Develop respect for coaching staff, players, opponents, and officials.
Be willing to administer fair and consistent discipline as needed.
Teach all players the basics of the game as well as develop effective strategy.
Continually evaluate player ability and adjust roster regardless of grade level.
Help the Varsity team play to the best of its ability.
Utilize the JV squad for continual team development.
Set high expectations for all players.
Provide individual and group instruction during practice and games.
Effectively communicate with the players during practice and throughout each game.
Select and manage coaching staff.
Work with the Knoch Lacrosse Club Board to bring in team-building speakers.
Fulfill the responsibilities on the attached list.

Schedule Includes:

Occasional off-season workouts during the summer and fall.

Two Try-It-Out Days (early summer and fall).

Once per week practices at indoor facilities (Russelton No Off Season) starting in January.

Five-day per week practices during the season.

Coaching all games.

Attending Knoch Lacrosse Board meetings as needed (about once per month).

Compensation:

Competitive pay will be provided.

Budget for assistant coaches will be provided.

Budget for guest speakers will be provided.

General List of Responsibilities

Work to fulfill the mission of Knoch Lacrosse: Sportsmanship, Ethical conduct, Fair play, Learning, Individual hard work.

Communicate with the team at least 48 hours before each event (practice, game, etc.)

Review transportation schedule to avoid conflicts with game times.

Teach all players the game basics

Teach all players strategy.

Review roster with JV and assistant coaches on a weekly basis and adjust based on development.

Pre-game coaching of team

Develop game plan
Develop sub schedule/plan
Communicate game objectives to team

Sideline coaching during game

Ensure game plan is being followed
Adjust sub plan if needed

Halftime coaching

Review what is/is not working
Adjust game plan
Address player concerns

Post-game coaching of team

Review the good and bad
Provide individual constructive criticism

Direct assistant coaches

Utilize film to help develop team

Film sessions on rain days

Provide appropriate and consistent discipline for those not working toward the Knoch Lacrosse Mission.

Utilize JV time to develop players. (e.g., faceoff, attack, defense, middies, etc.)

Develop written lettering policy.

Communicate with parents/guardians when there needs to be a change to practice/game time or date.
