THE POSITION:

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


  • As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will provide the proper settling, biological oxidation, digestion, and disinfection of the center wastewater and sludge by reading meters and gauges as well as operating skimmers, scum breakers, sludge pumps, filter pumps, filters, digesters, and chlorinators. This includes laboratory monitoring and record keeping. As part of the center's staybehind maintenance team, you will continue operations after the facility closure and ensure the production of a wastewater effluent of sufficient quality to meet requirements of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) discharge permit issued by the Department of Environmental Resources. Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with a 30minute lunch, and will rotate weekends and holidays for daily testing.
  • Overtime as needed.
  • Travel as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Successful completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee (commonwealth title) program and certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant;
    or:
  • Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant.

Special Requirements:


  • You must possess an active PA noncommercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
  • You must possess a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification Wastewater System Operators (Class C, Subclass 2 or higher).

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
