    Description

    Accounting Coordinator

    Non-Exempt MR06 – Starting rate depends on experience

    This position is essential in coordinating efforts ensuring that: the reconciliation of the account general ledgers is accomplished; accounting and financial records are properly maintained in accordance with fiscal policy; accounting procedures are identified or developed as required either for corrective action or implementation of standard accounting practices; accounts are balanced to determine if funds are available for payment; financial reports are prepared for management review and information to ensure that expenditures are properly charged and classified.


    Qualifications

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

    • Coordinates and participates in the reconciliation of the accounts general ledgers and subsidiary accounts of the Department.
    • Coordinates financial staff work efforts to support timely monthly Departmental accounts reconciliations.
    • Assembles financial information, researches and analyzes transactions to determine if expenditures are properly classified; Acting as Departmental reviewer, checks for correctness and completeness of accounting records and financial information; Prepares data for general ledger posting verification and reconciliation; Assists in maintaining reconciled departmental account records.
    • Develops, implements, and maintains Department operating and fiscal procedures related to account reconciliation keeping current with latest UT fiscal policies or procedures.
    • Advises others concerning proper accounting classification and records reporting requirements in accordance with established UT fiscal policies and procedures.
    • Assists in conducting Annual Asset Inventory verifying asset numbers are correctly coded.
    • Assists in providing financial documentation in support of internal accounting audits and drafts auditing responses.
    • Provides instructions to Departmental personnel on behalf of supervisor or Director.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and office productivity software.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail, strong organization skills
    • Must have the ability to work well with others in a team environment.

    Minimum requirements:

    • High School Degree with four years of specialized experience in accounts management; or a bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field plus one year of specialized experience in accounts management.
