- Manages employee leave programs to include FMLA, FAMLI, annual leave, sick leave, and other federal, state, and Colorado Community College System (CCCS) leaves.
- Audits benefit enrollment and makes corrections to records or payroll deductions as needed.
- Reconciles benefits payroll reports.

- Processes provider documentation and obtains clarification when needed.
- Oversees annual benefits Open Enrollment.
- Ensures accuracy of employee benefit enrollment data.
- Serves as resource for COBRA coverage.
- Oversees annual health fair.
- Acts as liaison with CCCS Benefits office and benefit providers.
- Receives and processes reports of worker injury.
- Maintains workers' compensation records.
- Receives and processes tuition assistance applications.
- Coordinates with HR and Payroll staff the processing of benefit-related payments or withholdings.
- Prepares and distributes communications to employees regarding leaves, benefits enrollment, workers' compensation, and tuition assistance programs.
- Assists Title IX Coordinator with receipt and preliminary investigation of Title IX and Civil Rights complaints.
- Maintains currency with all applicable federal and state leave laws and regulations.
- Works independently with little supervision or as part of a team.
- Communicates effectively with students, colleagues, and others.
- Interacts professionally and respectfully with students, colleagues, and others.
- Assesses individual and department work processes and recommends improvements.
- Complies with State Fiscal Rules, State Board policies, System and College protocols, and departmental procedures.
- Obtains and maintains proficiency with required systems and equipment.
- Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.
- Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline.

- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Professional HR or benefits specialist certification (or willingness to obtain after being hired).
- Three or more years in a professional Human Resource role.
- One or more years of benefits administration.
- Experience as an HR Generalist and/or workers' compensation administrator.
- Knowledge of laws and best practices pertaining to federal and Colorado leave programs.

Department Purpose
The Human Resources Department provides service in the areas of benefit administration, job evaluation, compensation, performance management, recruitment and selection, training, labor and employee relations, personnel rules interpretation, and worker's compensation.
Position Summary
The Benefit Specialist administrates all elements of employee benefits to include leaves, health coverage, voluntary benefits, tuition assistance, and workers' compensation. The Specialist also serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) in accordance with Department of Education guidelines. As a CSA, the incumbent is required to report crimes that they become aware of to the Department of Public Safety and must attend related annual training.
In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes , this position has been exempted from the State Personnel System.
