    We have a great opportunity for an Early Childhood Specialist located at our Family Center at 1591 Taos Road in Pueblo.

    What You'd Be Doing


    As an Early Childhood Specialist at the Family Center you would be a vital contributor to the health and well-being of children and families in Pueblo.

    Your role as an Early Childhood Specialist would involve building and maintaining effective working relationships in concert with area childcare centers, community agencies, and others to support the mental and social-emotional development of children.

    Specifically, the Early Childhood Specialist


    • Collaborates with childcare centers to promote mental health and social-emotional development among children;
    • Provides individualized support to parents/caregivers of children with concerns in social-emotional development, which may include home visits;
    • Partners with area agencies (e.g., Pueblo Early Childhood Council, Department of Social Services) in promoting mental health for children;
    • Offers training to families and early care education providers,
    • Develops cross-systems programs;
    • Maintains complete and up-to-date records, including progress toward program goals;
    • Maintains currency on innovations and best practices in early childhood mental health and mental healthcare; and
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by a Program Supervisor and Director.
    • Physical requirements include the following:
    • Requires frequent standing, sitting, and walking for prolonged periods of time
    • Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds
    • Requires working under stress in emergency situations
    • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record data electronically and communicate with clients
    • Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids
    • Requires frequent use computer operation including keyboard and mouse

    Qualifications

    What We're Looking For-The Must-Haves


    • A master's degree in early childhood education, social work, psychology, or a closely related field
    • At least one year of professional experience with children under five years of age
    • Demonstrated computer proficiency
    • Colorado driver's license and access to transportation during work hours
