    Minimum 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required.

    Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)|Scottsville, KY

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using appropriate communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), oral communication, and/or total communication.
    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student, setting measurable goals and objectives tailored to their specific needs.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to adapt and modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
    • Use assistive technology and other resources to support students' learning and communication needs.
    • Conduct assessments to monitor students' progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
    • Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to support student success.
    • Provide training and resources to school staff and families to enhance their understanding and support of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
    • Advocate for the needs and rights of students who are deaf or hard of hearing within the school community.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
    • Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
    • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods used by deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
    • Experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students in an educational setting is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in deaf education.
