Overview:
Qualifications:
- Requires Associate or Bachelor degree in physical education, exercise science or related field, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in related field
- Requires understanding/knowledge of a wide array of sports/activities, rules and regulations of sports/activities and how to teach a wide variety of individuals.
- Requires Pediatric & Adult AED, CPR and First Aid certification
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the sports department, including scheduling, staff management, and facility maintenance
- Develop and implement programs to promote sports activities for all age groups
- Track participation, distribute program evaluation/customer surveys to improve quality of program and retention of participants
- Ability to step in and teach a multitude of sport programs such as: gymnastics, soccer, basketball, etc.
- Conduct staff meetings, inservice trainings and perform all supervisory functions, including but not limited to staffing requirements, employment procedures and implementation, payroll, and evaluations under the direction of Branch Executive
- Educate staff on behavior management techniques and ensure a safe environment for all participants
- Assist with Association Annual Gift fund raising including coordination, leadership, attainment of goals, recruiting volunteers and staff with full knowledge of YMCA programs, values and services provided to the community
- Coordinates, with the supervising director and Marketing and Financial Development Director, a regular planned public relations and marketing plan for the Sports Department
- Monitor facility usage, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and respond to emergency situations
Skills:
- Experience in childcare or youth programs
- Knowledge of cheerleading or other sports activities
- Background in health club management or sports coaching
- Strong ability to educate and motivate staff and participants
- Proficiency in behavior management techniques
- Understanding of physical education principles
- Effective Communication; written, oral and through presentations
- Must have strong collaborative work ethic
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
