Job Summary


The Pipe Foreman is accountable for the crew meeting production goals, understanding cost reports and projections, tracking material quantities, and resolving discrepancies with orders.

He or she is responsible for planning daily and weekly activities of the crew, accurately reporting progress and production, and providing updated schedules.

The Pipe Foreman will be responsible for planning and managing a crew dedicated to constructing various drainage structures and utilities.


Essential Functions

  • Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications, with expert knowledge of sloping, grading, and concrete installation.
  • Manage and direct the crew to meet production goals. Must understand daily production costs and production cost reports to track material quantities and resolve order discrepancies.
  • Interact with owners, clients, managers, subcontractors, and employees and maintain a positive working relationship.
  • Execute work plan by effectively managing crew and equipment.
  • Manage daily timekeeping and equipment logs, as well as complete daily reports and diaries.
  • Educate and train crew on safety, production goals, and equipment maintenance.
  • Develop and mentor craft personnel through training opportunities and providing accurate feedback on performance.
  • Ensure operation is safe and use disciplinary actions as needed to always maintain safety. Report injuries and damages to appropriate personnel. Ensure good housekeeping through toolbox talks, safety meetings, etc.
  • Keep track of assets and take steps to limit vandalism.
  • Knowledge of rigging, load charts, and soil mechanics.
  • Climb up and down ladders and scaffolding to gain access to work to supervise the crew. Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces throughout the construction site and stand and walk multiple hours a day.
  • Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pickup truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required to perform job duties.
  • Recruits, interviews, and hires qualified applicants for available positions. Involved in all other personnel actions such as discipline, promotions, demotions, and terminations.
  • Survey knowledge and exposure to technical survey systems such as GPS and robotics.
  • Knowledge of mass dirt excavations, soil mechanics, shoring, and trench boxes.
  • Knowledge of RCP, HDPE, Box Culverts, Cylinder, PVC, and Ductal pipe types.
  • Knowledge of laser setup.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of previous heavy civil construction experience working with drainage structures and utilities
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detailoriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be dependable, selfmotivated, and taskoriented
  • Must be able to work outside 90% of the time and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Experience with Mobile Timecard a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
