The University of Southern Maine is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Library Specialist CL3 located in the Glickman Library, Portland Campus.

The Library Specialist is a key member of the Access Services team.

The position provides a variety of services and support including information services, circulation assistance, reference, e-reserves, assistance with navigating academic support services, and answering basic technology/computer questions.

Excellent service skills are required. The Library Specialist shares responsibility for training and supervising library student assistants.

The person in this position will have the needed skills to assist with Interlibrary Loan and digital library services and resources.

This position has extensive in-person, telephone, and online interactions with students, faculty, staff, researchers, and the public. This position is responsible for building opening/closing procedures.


This Library Specialist position will pay a starting rate of $19.59/hour for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System.

There is a.40 cents per hour shift differential for evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) and one year of specialized training or education in library related services
  • OR, High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) and five years of library support experience.
