- Design and analyze transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and tunnels.
- Perform structural calculations, prepare design drawings, and develop construction plans in accordance with industry codes and standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess structural conditions, identify deficiencies, and recommend solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and specifications for transportation projects.
- Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and materials for compliance with design requirements.
- Ensure project deadlines and budgets are met while maintaining high-quality work.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to transportation engineering.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on transportation projects.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or similar.
- In-depth knowledge of AASHTO, ACI, and other relevant design codes and standards.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques for transportation infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with project management, including budgeting and scheduling, is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience with seismic design and analysis for transportation structures.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software such as Revit or Tekla Structures.
- Previous involvement in public-sector transportation projects and familiarity with DOT regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
