Position Summary


The Workforce Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting students and alumni in successfully completing training and gaining and maintaining employment post-graduation.

The Workforce Program Coordinator achieves this through a combination of formal and informal life and soft skills instruction, one-on-one coaching and barrier-reduction through referrals to internal and external resources.


Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement life skills program that includes a total plan for career decision making processes for DFW students, including formalized career assessments, oneonone counseling, referrals to other agencies, resume writing and scheduling guest speakers
  • Provide coaching to students through their job search, work experience and employment placement to ensure an appropriate placement for their knowledge, skills and interests
  • Maintain Instructor/Proctor Certifications for ServSafe Food Protection Manager, and OSHA10
  • Develop and maintain relationships with businesses and organizations to provide work experience and employment opportunities for students and alumni
  • Collaborate with Workforce Training Programs Director and Instructors to coordinate graduation ceremonies for DFW students
  • Responsible for identifying behaviors or conditions that may create a barrier to employment; develop a plan for alleviating those barriers utilizing all internal and external resources
  • Partner with community agencies providing GED and high school diploma services for this population providing necessary assistance for completion while in the program and beyond if necessary
  • Responsible for handling and recording all student behavior and personal issues inside and outside of the classroom that may arise and possibly interfere with the class or an individual's training and job placement
  • Coordinate third party transportation or drive DFW van safely to transport students to bus stops and/or field trips as needed
  • Appropriately track student barrier reduction expenses, including transportation invoicing and submit in an accurate and timely manner to Workforce Training Programs Director for approval prior to submission to Finance
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining strong working partnerships with other relevant organizations, agencies and businesses to solicit student referrals, funding sources, guest speakers and field trips
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all student referral organizations (DOL/DVR, etc.) ensuring that DFW stays in compliance with all student referral agencies rules and guidelines, including all formal and informal reporting, meeting with agencies as requested, and a contact for all counselors regarding general student information as well as all financial (billing and payment) information
  • Responsible for all data collection and program evaluation assigned for this position, including job placement information, student tracking information, internship information, financial data (internal and external) and formalized intake and exit survey information
  • Creating and maintaining current documents that are easily accessible by all FBD staff (with the information stated above) and providing reports as necessary
  • Responsible for working as part of a team as well as being able to work independently in all aspects of the position
  • Collaborate with members of leadership to ensure timely and accurate completion of all tasks, as well as discuss any current or new ideas, thoughts, or suggestions that will improve or enhance any aspect of DFW

Qualities and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Human Services, Training/Development, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Instructor/Proctor Certified or ability to be certified within 1 year of employment
  • OSHA10 Instructor/Proctor Certified or ability to be certified within 1 year of employment
  • Certified to administer the CASAS and TABE or ability to be certified within 3 months of employment
  • Demonstrated ability in both written and verbal communications and listening skills
  • Solid acumen in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends as needed
  • A valid driver's license for the past three years; clean driving record (no points or moving violation within the last three years)

Physical Requirements

  • Working at a computer workstation, generally with a monitor, will be required
