JOB SUMMARY

SALES MANAGER
Acts as the on-property liaison for group sales within the pre-defined peak room parameters for Property Sales. Contracts and closes group business in addition to conducting site inspections. Verifies business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery. Achieves group revenue goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity.

Implements the brand's service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales process and drives customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years' experience in the sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related professional area.
OR

  • 2year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years' experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.

Preferred:


  • Large group sales experience.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Achieves group revenue goals by responding to incoming group/catering opportunities for the property that are within the predefined peak room parameters.


Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.


  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
  • Participate in daily RevMax meeting, preconvention meetings, training and other salesrelated meetings as required.
  • Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings.
  • Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Most tasks are performed in a team environment. There is mínimal direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of all departments of hotel.
  • Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints independently.
  • Ability to establish and master goals.
  • Ability to identify and develop accounts.
  • Ability to act independently with mínimal or no supervision.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, accounting programs, Microsoft Word, Excel and Delphi.
Math skills, as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.


Other Duties


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

This will include various weekends, holidays and flexible work schedule is required based on demands of the seasonality and needs of the resort operations.


Grooming
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per WESTIN standards.

The annual salary range for this role is between $60,000 to $65,000 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.

The position does participate in a structured bonus plan based on meeting the resort established sales goals.
