This role supports the new educational programs team in managing ongoing education team and school-wide initiatives and projects.

The Education Project Manager provides project management leadership and support for complex and fast-paced strategic deliverables for the education team of the school of nursing.

This role includes researching policies and procedures, designing and tracking project deliverables, managing complex scheduling and project timelines, developing and formatting presentations and documents, and providing design and implementation support for education projects.

The Education Project Manager responds through verbal and/or written communication to a wide variety of inquiries regarding the School of Nursing.

The incumbent is expected to utilize initiative, judgment, and discretion in researching, analyzing and compiling necessary background information to assist the education team in responding to a wide variety of complex needs and project issues.


This position requires a great deal of flexibility and political acumen, and serves as a backup to the larger education team.


Requirements for this position include a thorough knowledge of University and School of Nursing, policy and procedures, and campus resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Excellent organizational skills to work under frequent interruptions; to independently establish priorities, anticipate job requirements, organize workflow to work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent independent decisionmaking skills to work with ambiguities where clear guidelines are not present.
  • Demonstrated skills to identify issues, provide recommendations referrals, and seek resources to develop solutions.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff and students; respond to questions and concerns; and comprehend the specialized needs of students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Experience as a team member with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with a large and diverse group of colleagues. Skills to tactfully manage competing priorities originating from multiple executives.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to assume new assignments and independently follow through to successful completion; to manage details of complex projects, develop goals/plans for resolution and implementation.
  • Skill to organize and analyze data systematically to report results and recommendations clearly.
  • Strong data management skills and the experience to develop and maintain computerized reports and to quickly and accurately produce reports, presentations and documents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience to interpret and advise the education team and effectively on policies, procedures and requirements regarding UC Davis graduate education and the SON programs, UC Davis Office of Graduate Studies, Graduate Council, Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid Office and the University of California.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast pace working environment; strong initiative and work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned, as the program grows and develops.
  • Demonstrated skills to develop programmatic partnerships with a variety of academic and administrative departments, student organizations, and community groups throughout the Sacramento and Davis campuses.
  • Experience working with and maintaining confidentially of student information and materials.
  • Must be sensitive to highly confidential information to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated outstanding typing and computer skills. Experience to produce high quality work using software programs such as Microsoft Word and its advanced features, Excel, Outlook, Qualtrics, Internet Browser, and Acrobat.
  • Skills to learn and commit to UC Affirmative Action policies and procedures, specifically related to recruitment & retention of graduate students from traditionally underrepresented groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience with creating Health Sciences, Higher Education, and professionalism documentation.
  • Master's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience / training.
