This position is primarily responsible for planning, implementing and supervising the daily activities of the 2k preschool group and providing a safe and nurturing learning environment.

The preschool teacher should be warm and inviting as well as show care for each child while nurturing learning.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Adheres to professional and legal requirements and principles as well as demonstrating sound professional judgement at all times.

Prepares and implements curriculum provided with enthusiasm and kindness.

Capitalizes on natural learning opportunities for children when present.

Treats each child with kindness, respect and maximizes his/her potential.

Collaborates with family and caregivers professionally and ethically.

Accepts feedback given by Administrator or Center Director professionally without arguing.

Demonstrates ability to work effectively as part of an educational team.

Projects an image of professionalism, integrity and quality to families and caregivers as well as new employees


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION
18 years of age with high school diploma or its equivalent.


One of the following:

  • Two courses for credit in early childhood education or its equivalent from an institution of higher education.
  • Two noncredit departmentapproved courses in early childhood education.
  • One course for credit in early childhood education and one noncredit departmentapproved course in early childhood education.
  • Certificate from The Registry indicating that the person is qualified as a child care teacher.
  • A Wisconsin Preschool Credential.
  • A Wisconsin Infant-Toddler Credential.
  • Fortyeight credits from an institution of higher education with at least 3 credits in early childhood education or its equivalent.
  • A oneyear child care diploma in child care or early childhood education from an institution of higher education.
  • An associate degree in early childhood education or child care from an institution of higher education.
  • A Child Development Associate credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition.
  • A certificate from the department of workforce development, bureau of apprenticeship standards, as a child development specialist.

EXPERIENCE


320 hours of experience as an assistant child care teacher in a licensed child care center or other approved EC setting.

From $15.00 per hour
