Gordon Institute for Public Policy is currently seeking a Student Assistant to join their team, duties include:


  • Support projects appropriate to the department functions.
  • Support the FIU-USSOUTHCOM partnership by providing readahead material for upcoming roundtable sessions.
  • Identifying new research reports to share with clients.
  • Support in research capacity for leadership.
  • Assist with planning, development, and implementing department projects.
  • Assist with presentations and workshops at the instructions of the Program Manager.
  • Assist with monthly reports for the department projects.
  • Work with relevant specialized software programs.
  • Complete PowerPoint training.

Minimum Qualifications:


Preferred qualifications:


  • At least 2 semesters of related research experience.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of PC operations and specialized software.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon graduating, student employment must end.

Work Schedule:


  • Monday-Friday
  • 20 hours a week

Advertised Salary:

$15.60/hour commensurate with experience.
