Job Summary

Responsibilities:


  • Create menus according to season and customer research
  • Set up the kitchen with necessary tools and equipment
  • Prepare food and present it in an appealing manner
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to other team members
  • Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and restock when necessary
  • Follow all food safety regulations

Qualifications:


  • Previous experience as a chef or cook
  • Certification from culinary school preferred
  • ServeSafe or Food Handler's Certification
  • Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes
  • Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong leadership skills
    Must be able to obtain the Food Managers License within 30 days of hire

We are looking to hire a highly skilled Kitchen Chef to lead the kitchen of our 30 year established Japanese Restaurant.

As the leader of the back of house team, you will be responsible for leading everything during prep and service including; receiving, fileting, portioning and prepping all kitchen meats, chicken, fish and produce, establishing prep lists, leading the production of sauces, garnishes, etc., ordering food and supplies, ensuring dishes are consistently top quality according to our menu, and in general, leading the team on day-to-day tasks as needed.


Great knife skills and experience preparing consistent high quality dishes in accordance with food health/safety regulations and restaurant standards are a must.

You should also be able to customize customers' orders according to written preferences and food allergy considerations.


Note:
must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.

English Required

  • Japanese a definite plus.
This is a stable and safe work environment free from drama, drugs, and drunks. Most of the staff has been here for over 25 years.


Fujiya Japanese Restaurant DOES NOT have a fast paced, high stress workflow but does require professionalism, accuracy, cleanliness and teamwork.
