    JOB SUMMARY/


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    The Director of System Operations leads a diverse team in delivering innovative IT solutions to support the University's mission.

    This position is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and oversight of enterprise applications, data center operations, server/database infrastructure, cloud services, data storage.

    This position works with IT leaders on disaster recovery/business continuity processes and automation initiatives.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    :


    Develops and implements operational plans aligned with institutional goals; establishes policies, standards, and best practices for efficient, secure IT service delivery.

    Manages team including recruiting, training, mentoring personnel across data center, systems, database, cloud, and automation areas.
    Spearheads the design and implementation of comprehensive system operation strategies that align with organizational objectives.
    Develops and oversees the operational budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources towards system maintenance, upgrades, and new technology acquisitions.

    Implements cost-saving initiatives without compromising on system performance or reliability including negotiating contracts, streamlining operations, and leveraging economies of scale.

    Provides leadership for data analytics platforms supporting research initiatives.
    Conducts periodic evaluations of current systems to ascertain the effectiveness, and institute enhancements or upgrades as necessary.
    Identifies emerging technologies to enhance research capabilities.
    Leads cross-functional teams in the execution of technology update projects, from initial concept through to full operational integration.
    Oversees deployment, integration, and maintenance of mission-critical enterprise applications and platforms.
    Monitors the performance of newly implemented systems, adjusting strategies as needed based on operational data and feedback.
    Fosters relationships with technology vendors and partners to stay abreast of industry trends and cost-effective solutions.
    Ensures compliance with data governance policies and regulations.
    Performs other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


    EDUCATION:

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. ( Master's Degree preferred. ) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)


    EXPERIENCE:

    Seven (7) years of progressive experience in IT Management, systems/database administration, data center operation, cloud services, or related field.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    In depth knowledge of specific technologies, platforms, or systems relevant to the role.
    Advanced knowledge of IT service management frameworks (ITIL, etc.).
    Proven skills in project management and process improvement methodologies.
    Excellent skills in budget management and resource optimization.
    Strong strategic planning and roadmap development skills.
    Comprehensive knowledge of data governance and compliance regulations.
    Manages multiple competing priorities and deadlines successfully.


    WORK SCHEDULE:

    This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May occasionally require overnight travel.
