    Physical Therapist -

    Main Functions of the Physical Therapy Role:

    1. Plans and executes treatment programs for individual patients based on Physical Therapy principles and practices. Collaborates with the treatment team and reports to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehab Services.
    2. Specializing in Lymphedema

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Reviews Physical Therapy requisitions

    a. Assesses patients, evaluates their physical condition and requirements

    2. Develops corrective exercise and treatment plans for assigned patients

    a. Prescribes proper equipment usage, application techniques, and body positioning for treatments such as exercise, gait training, soft tissue mobility, etc.

    b. Educates patients on program segments and correct usage of devices

    c. Modifies treatment programs based on personal evaluation of patient progress

    d. Collaborates with physicians when necessary

    3. Completes required written documentation like evaluation results, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries

    4. Communicates observations with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated healthcare planning

    5. Guides staff members assisting in patient care

    6. Upholds department policies, objectives, safety, and infection control standards

    a. Adheres to hospital safety measures

    b. Follows departmental policies and procedures

    c. Assists with quality initiatives

    7. Assists in equipment care and maintenance

    8. Attends meetings and committees as required

    9. Helps with patient transport

    10. Acts in place of Senior Therapists when needed

    11. Engages in professional growth through educational programs and literature

    12. Attends mandatory educational programs

    13. Provides age-appropriate care to patients

    14. Ensures patient satisfaction by interacting in a friendly and caring manner


    EDUCATION:

    • Must be licensed or eligible for a license in Physical Therapy in NYS

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience in a hospital setting is preferred

    CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Involves physical effort, lifting, pushing, and pulling

    EXPOSURE CATEGORY:

    • Tasks involve no exposure to blood, fluids, or tissues

    INFECTION CONTROL:

    • Follows universal precautions during patient care
