MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

The
Maintenance Worker is responsible for all renovations, adherence to safety codes and management of physical plant emergencies. She/he is also responsible for daily cleaning and housekeeping activities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily house run to assess condition of the facility relative to agency standards and determine areas of concern.
Ongoing maintenance of plumbing, electricity, heating and wiring.
Responsible for emergency and minor repairs to be completed in a timely fashion.
Responsible for responding to resident work orders in a timely fashion.
Responsible for ensuring apartment/living quarters are well maintained and clean.
Inspects apartments/living quarters and corrects deficiencies prior to arrival of new residents.
Perform carpentry work as needed.
Painting and maintenance of facility, both inside and out.
Maintain inventory and prepare purchase orders for maintenance and housekeeping supplies in a timely fashion.
In accordance with Program Director, responsible for compliance with all applicable regulations, codes and standards.
Completes housekeeping tasks and cleaning of facility at direction of supervisor.
Responsible for training new maintenance & housekeeping staff.
Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Attend all required inservice training seminars.
Participate in quality improvement activities.
Other relevant duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School Diploma or G.E.D required
Minimum of two (2) years experience in a New York City building, preferably, in a residential social service setting.
Must have a valid NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness.
Valid NYS Drivers License highly preferred but not required.
Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs).
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Position requires on call availability.
