MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

The
Maintenance Worker is responsible for all renovations, adherence to safety codes and management of physical plant emergencies. She/he is also responsible for daily cleaning and housekeeping activities.


SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Daily house run to assess condition of the facility relative to agency standards and determine areas of concern.
  • Ongoing maintenance of plumbing, electricity, heating and wiring.
  • Responsible for emergency and minor repairs to be completed in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for responding to resident work orders in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for ensuring apartment/living quarters are well maintained and clean.
  • Inspects apartments/living quarters and corrects deficiencies prior to arrival of new residents.
  • Perform carpentry work as needed.
  • Painting and maintenance of facility, both inside and out.
  • Maintain inventory and prepare purchase orders for maintenance and housekeeping supplies in a timely fashion.
  • In accordance with Program Director, responsible for compliance with all applicable regulations, codes and standards.
  • Completes housekeeping tasks and cleaning of facility at direction of supervisor.
  • Responsible for training new maintenance & housekeeping staff.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Attend all required inservice training seminars.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.




REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a New York City building, preferably, in a residential social service setting.
  • Must have a valid NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness.
  • Valid NYS Drivers License highly preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs).
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Position requires on call availability.
